Dazhong Jiading Launches Dual Actions in Response to Typhoon "Co-may" and the 7.23 Accident

Facing the severe test of this year's No. 8 powerful typhoon "Co-may", Dazhong Jiading ("the company") responded with high vigilance and a strong sense of responsibility. The company swiftly deployed and implemented a series of safety prevention measures to ensure the safety of employees and the stable operation of the plant. Simultaneously, the tragic accident at Inner Mongolia Mining Company—where six college students fell into a flotation tank and drowned due to a collapsed grid plate during a visit to the flotation process—served as a stark reminder for the company to reinforce its safety management. In response, Dazhong Jiading took dual actions.

Before Typhoon "Co-may" affected the city, Dazhong Jiading had already activated its safety warning mechanism. On July 29, the company issued a typhoon alert to all employees via internal communication channels, emphasizing the need to closely monitor the typhoon's movement and strictly implement flood prevention and typhoon preparedness measures to minimize potential impacts on the plant. Concurrently, preventive safety measures were comprehensively rolled out across the entire facility: First, all building doors, windows, roller shutters, and their sealing and stability were inspected, with detailed assessments of the typhoon's potential risks to the electrical circuit system. Second, key high-altitude facilities and chimneys were checked for reinforcement, and suppliers were required to conduct thorough inspections and reinforcement of the company's photovoltaic panels. Third, all ground manholes, drainage ditches, and sewer systems were cleared and dredged to ensure drainage capacity during extreme heavy rainfall. Fourth, emergency personnel were put on standby to ensure a swift and effective response in case of any incident. By July 31, after the typhoon's impact subsided, a follow-up inspection confirmed that all facilities in the plant remained intact, and production operations continued normally and stably.

The tragic accident at Inner Mongolia Mining Company, where six college students drowned after falling into a flotation tank due to a collapsed grid plate, served as a nationwide warning for workplace safety. The leadership of Dazhong Jiading took this incident seriously, treating it as a profound safety lesson. Immediately, the company organized professionals to conduct a "carpet-style" safety inspection of all grid plates on platforms, walkways, and equipment operation areas within the plant. The inspection focused on the welding strength, corrosion status, load-bearing capacity, and effectiveness of locking devices of the grid plates, leaving no potential risks unchecked. On July 29, during a special safety inspection of grid plates by relevant departments of Jiading New Town Sub-district, the safety supervisor provided a detailed report on the company's safety management measures—specifically highlighting that Dazhong Jiading had already replaced most aging grid plates with more corrosion-resistant and higher-strength stainless steel materials in 2023. Currently, all grid plates in the company are in a safe and reliable condition, fully demonstrating Dazhong Jiading's "zero tolerance" attitude toward safety hazards and its ability to respond swiftly.

During this typhoon period, the company's wastewater inflow reached 256,700 tons, marking the second-highest historical peak. Moving forward, the company will continue to implement the requirements outlined in the Shanghai Safety Commission Office and Disaster Reduction Office's "Guidelines for Post-Typhoon Resumption of Work and Production Safety Risk Prevention." With the highest standards, strictest requirements, and most practical measures, Dazhong Jiading is committed to ensuring absolute safety in production, building an impenetrable defense line for the company's stable operations and the safety and health of its employees.
